SF9 Reunion! Hwiyoung Joins Rowoon In New Drama ‘The Matchmakers’

SF9 Hwiyoung is coming back to the home theaters with KBS2's "The Matchmakers," joining in on the fun led by Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun.

SF9 Hwiyoung Joins Rowoon In New Drama 'The Matchmakers'

This 2023, SF9 Hwiyoung is making terrestrial television comeback with KBS2's "The Matchmakers."

Much to the fans' delight, Hwiyoung is reuniting with his former SF9 bandmate Rowoon in the series. It tells the romantic meeting of the self-proclaimed matchmakers in the Joseon era whose job is to marry off eligible maidens to noble families.

In "The Matchmakers," he portrays the role of henchman Lee Jwa Rang, a reliable aide to Lee Soon Won's Park Bok Ki.

Through the work, he is set to flaunt his immersive acting and enviable physique as a right hand man who is good at literature and martial arts.

Interest is focused on the idol-actor who, after years, returns to the acting spotlight. He is expected to deliver a great performance and improved skills that he hasn't shown in his previous works.

Hwiyoung & Rowoon Reunite For The First-Time Ever

Besides Hwiyoung's terrestrial television debut, fans are also excited for his reunion with former SF9 bandmate Rowoon.

In September, FNC Entertainment announced that Rowoon has departed from the group after seven long years to focus on his prosperous acting career.

Because of this, SF9 continued as an eight-piece band. While many were saddened, some fans looked at the positive side and wished both the group and Rowoon well.

In the statement released before, Rowoon didn't mention not address SF9 which led to speculations about their friendship that has allegedly turned sour.

With that said, the fans, as well as the avid K-drama viewers, are looking forward to seeing Hwiyoung and Rowoon's reunion as well as the status of their relationship at the moment.

Ultimately, fans want to see the two artists' chemistry on the screens once again, raising the excitement for KBS2's "The Matchmakers." Don't miss the arrival of the period romance series this October 30 at 9:45 p.m. KST on KBS2!
