Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon Reunite For The Third Time in The Remarried Empress. Fans of Korean drama can't contain their excitement as it is announced that Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon will reunite once again on the screen for the third time together, in The Remarried Empress.

It is a royal fantasy K-drama that is currently being filmed. The two stars (both joined by Lee Jong-suk and Lee Se-young) star in the forthcoming Disney+ series that's based on the hit web novel of the same name.

The reteaming of Shin with Ju is sparking memories of their prior collaboration, 2009's The Naked Kitchen.

This acclaimed but controversial Korean sausagefest graphically depicted the jousting of three sexual partners.

In it, Shin played Ahn Mo-rae, a married woman who falls into a casual fling with a stranger, played by Ju, oblivious that her husband had invited him to their home.

The emotional story unfolded loosely along the lines of desire and will, culminating in Shin stepping away from both men to pursue her dream.

Now in The Remarried Empress, the dynamics are dramatically reversed.

Ju Ji-hoon takes on the role of Sovieshu Vict, emperor of the Eastern Empire, while Shin Min-ah plays Empress Navier Ellie Trovi, a noble and devoted wife who is cast aside when Sovieshu falls for a low-born slave, Rashta Isqua.

Navier eventually reclaims her power and status by remarrying Prince Heinrey Alles Lazlo of the Western Empire, portrayed by Lee Jong-suk.

The drama centers on themes of betrayal, resilience, and feminine empowerment, offering a narrative that contrasts with the actors' previous roles.

Fans have taken to social media to draw comparisons between the emotional turmoil faced by Shin Min-ah's characters across the years and Ju Ji-hoon's recurring roles as catalysts for romantic upheaval.

"Seeing Shin Min-ah and Ju Ji-hoon together again brings back all the feelings from The Naked Kitchen," one fan tweeted. "This time, it feels like she finally gets justice."

Industry insiders say the casting decision was intentional, aiming to tap into the deep chemistry the two actors have cultivated over nearly two decades.

They first co-starred in the 2007 mystery drama Lucifer, adding yet another layer of familiarity for longtime K-drama fans.

The Remarried Empress is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ later this year. With its high-profile cast and emotionally charged storyline, the series is already being hailed as one of the most anticipated dramas of 2025.
