According to a report published Monday by Chinese news outlet 163.com, Wang filed suit in a Taiwanese court accusing Koo — real name Koo Jun-yup — of transferring approximately 87 million New Taiwan dollars (about $2.6 million USD) to South Korea.

The money had been intended for their children's education but was spent on buying a luxury home in the wealthy Seoul district of Gangnam, Wang claims.

The court has reportedly accepted the case and is expected to begin proceedings in the coming weeks.

Wang, who was married to Barbie Hsu from 2011 to 2021, claims to have submitted detailed bank records to support his allegation. Koo, 55, married Hsu in 2022 after a whirlwind reunion two decades after they first dated.

Neither Koo nor representatives of the Hsu family have issued public responses to the lawsuit.

Some reports indicate that Koo has returned to South Korea, while Hsu's sister, Dee Hsu, was recently spotted at Incheon International Airport, prompting speculation that the family is preparing for a legal response.

Wang has been at odds with the Hsu family since the sudden death of Barbie Hsu in February 2025.

Early agreements regarding the division of custody of their children (whom Wang became responsible for, along with their share of the reported estate worth USD 30 million) had seemed to settle fundamental issues.

However, the conflict resurfaced in recent weeks following public criticism by Wang's current wife, Mandy, who accused the Hsu family of neglecting the children since their return to Taiwan.

Adding further strain, Wang's mother, businesswoman Zhang Lan, has reportedly filed a police report in Taiwan accusing the Hsu family of illegally selling jewelry and other assets belonging to her late daughter-in-law before probate proceedings had concluded.

Barbie Hsu was one of Asia's most beloved actresses, best known for her leading role in the 2001 drama Meteor Garden.

Her passing shocked fans across the region and has since become the backdrop for a high-profile family feud involving some of East Asia's most recognizable public figures.

As of Tuesday, court officials have not confirmed the date of the initial hearing. The lawsuit and surrounding inheritance issues continue to dominate headlines across Taiwan, China, and South Korea.
