South Korean actor Yoon Ji-on issued a public apology after he was accused of drunk driving and subsequently pulled out of an ongoing drama shoot. The scandal has raised eyebrows and cast doubts on his career in show business.
On the night of September 17, Yoon faced the matter head-on in a statement he issued on social media.
In his initial statement, he apologized for what had happened.
"I feel heavy-hearted and sorry to have to share this unfortunate news," he wrote.
The accident happened late on the evening of September 16, according to the actor.

"I was so drunk that I couldn't even remember, and I committed the mistake of riding a motorcycle parked on the street without permission," he confessed.
"I have admitted to all charges and am currently assessing the extent of the damage."
Yoon then apologized to people he might have let down.
"I am truly ashamed to have hurt and disappointed many people who supported me due to my reckless actions. I am sorry."
He then ended his post by committing to take responsibility and fully cooperate with the law.
"I will live the rest of my life in remorse and be vigilant so that something like this never happens again. I will faithfully cooperate with the upcoming investigation and willingly accept any punishment that may be given."
Local media had previously reported the controversy earlier in the day. Yoon was shooting Channel A's drama I Have a Baby but is reportedly said to have abandoned the production after the DUI case.
Filming has been under way since July and was set to continue this week, but was allegedly suspended after his arrest.
Yoon Ji-on does not have the representation of an agency since his contract with Eum Hash Tag expired on July 6.
He had been negotiating to sign with a new agency but is said to have hit the brakes as a result of the accident.
The future of the actor in the entertainment sector hangs in the balance.
