Actor Kim Soo-hyun's legal team has vehemently denied accusations laid by the grieving family of deceased actress Kim Sae-ron, terming the current scenario a "national fraud case" based on evidence tampering.

Kim's lawyer Ko Sang-rok made a lengthy statement on his personal blog, tackling each accusation step by step, as reported by Nate.

Referring to his statement, Ko said that "The essence of this incident is 'evidence manipulation,' and it is a national fraud case that socially murdered an innocent victim."

The attorney went on to explain the circumstances of the late actress prior to her death. "The cause of death and background of the deceased Kim Sae-ron's death is known to be suicide," he said, referencing her failed marriage in America and her desperation after a failed business undertaking in Korea.

Ko cited an earlier remark from the family's lawyer to the effect that, "Attorney Bu Ji-seok, who represents the bereaved family, directly stated at a press conference, 'The deceased attempted suicide so many times that even her family did not know.'"

The lawyer also noted that the family relationships of Kim Sae-ron had apparently been strained since she drove drunk in 2022. "It has been confirmed through various sources that the deceased's relationship with her family was effectively severed during this period," he added, pointing out that she had isolated herself emotionally.

As far as credibility of some of the witness statements goes, Ko discredited statements from one acquaintance dubbed the "fake aunt." "The deceased was in the United States that day, and it has been confirmed through official documents that she registered her marriage to a man there."

In a second paragraph, Ko spoke directly to the family, asking, "Is the deceased that you remember the person who borrowed a few hundred dollars at a cafe from a man with whom she had no special connection, answered every question the man asked, and talked about her sexual relationship as a minor while mixing in vulgar language?"

Ko concluded by highlighting the global implications of the scandal. "TThe incident spread to international media outlets, damaging the credibility of the Korean Wave industry as a whole." he said, asking for an investigation into allegations of collusion and manipulation.

He concluded his statement with a call for justice: "Silence is no longer enough to preserve our honor. Please join us in ensuring the innocent victims are returned to their rightful place."
