Actress Son Tae Young has shared the personal reasons behind her family's relocation to the United States, emphasizing both family priorities and challenges in her career.

As per AllKpop, during an appearance on the YouTube channel "Study King Jjin Genius Hong Jin Kyung" on January 8, Son Tae Young and her husband, actor Kwon Sang Woo, discussed their daily life abroad and the factors influencing their move.

Kwon Sang Woo clarified that their desire to raise their children in a more natural environment largely motivated the relocation. "My wife's older sister already lives in the U.S. and supports us a lot, so it was a logical choice for our family," he said.

Son Tae Young also reflected on her experience in Korea's entertainment industry. Regarding a 2018 Melon Music Awards incident where her son Luke sat in the artist section, she said, "I was just following a staff member's guidance that the children wait in vacant seats while I prepared for my stage segment."

She further stated that the intense scrutiny she encountered following the incident contributed to her feeling unwelcome in the domestic entertainment scene.

Kwon Sang Woo noted that he is pleased to see his wife's personality better understood through recent social media activity. "It helps clear up misunderstandings that have lingered for years," he said.

However, some observers have questioned the consistency of these explanations. Fan-captured footage reportedly showed the children watching multiple idol performances and leaving before Son Tae Young's segment, while organizers' 2018 statements suggested the seating arrangement had been requested by her team.

Netizens have also pointed out that the family may have secured an overseas residence before the controversy, raising doubts about the timing of the move.
