Actress Park Jung-yeon is turning heads on KBS 2TV's weekend drama "Splendid Days" by playing a character who gradually brings out her concealed sides.
Park portrays Park Young-ra, a woman brought up under the strict control of her mother Go Sung-hee (Lee Tae-ran).
Episode 15, which aired on September 27, depicted Young-ra arranging an accidental meeting with Min Jung-ho (Nam Hae-joon), her mother's chosen marriage candidate.
However, Young-ra's personality also harbors an ulterior motive. As the story goes, Sports Chosun wrote, "Young-ra, who lives the life of a new artist designed by Seong-hee, is actually obsessed with webtoon drawings."
Her creative side emerges when Ji-wan (played by Son Sang-yeon) comes across her zombie-themed webtoon, "Take My Heart."
Ji-wan's appreciation brings her closer, as spotted in the episode. "Young-ra discusses the action scenes in the work with Ji-wan. The two then transform into the main characters So-ri and Dokgo Jin in Young-ra's webtoon, and their action scenes add to the fun of watching 'Splendid Days.'"
Park's performance has been commended for adding layers to a character caught between control and artistic expression.
She seamlessly transitions from displaying Young-ra as a passive "doll" to a secret creator who brings happiness through artwork.
Her production company, Salt Entertainment, boosted fan anticipation by unleashing behind-the-scenes images of the actress, which highlighted her stunning visuals and increasing versatility.
Apart from acting, Park ventured into music this month, launching the digital single "Paradise with Dangu." Her everyday life inspires the song, featuring her pet dog and highlighting the joy of small things.
