Actress Kang Ye Won recently shared a memorable story about hosting a birthday party where she invited around 40 male actors. The gathering, which also included her childhood friends, was so unusual that even her celebrity guests thought she was "crazy" for organizing it.
Koreaboo reported that on June 11, Kang Ye Won posted a video on her YouTube channel featuring actor Go Chang Seok, where the two reflected on their careers and industry experiences. Kang asked Go if he remembered the party with 40 male actors, to which he replied, "It was the first time I'd ever seen someone go to the salon for their birthday and then throw a party like that."
What made the event even more distinct was Kang's decision to invite her elementary and middle school friends as well, so they could meet her celebrity acquaintances. This created an initially awkward atmosphere since the two groups did not know each other. Among the well-known actors attending were Sol Kyung Gu, Lee Min Ki, Kim In Kwon, Oh Dal Su, and Park Joong Hoon.
Go Chang Seok admitted he thought Kang was crazy for mixing these different groups. "Normally, when actors get together, they don't invite all their childhood friends too. I honestly thought something was wrong with her," he said.
Kang explained her motivation: "My elementary school friends and middle school friends knew I was an actress. Of course, they'd want to meet actors. I wanted to give my friends a present. I told them, 'It's my birthday, so I'm going to invite actor friends, actor seniors, and actor juniors. Come and hang out with us.'"
In addition to this heartwarming story, Kang Ye Won is currently facing serious personal challenges. According to a report by Maeil Business Newspaper (MK), Kang was recently shown in tears during a preview of the SBS variety show "My Little Old Boy", as she struggled with inheriting approximately 1.1 billion won (about $900,000 USD) in debt following her father's sudden death in April.
In the preview, Kang visited a lawyer pleading for help regarding the debt, which had increased from 1 billion won shortly after her father passed away. She expressed deep concern about hospital bills and other financial burdens left behind.
