Kim Hyun Joong's agency, Key East Entertainment, has denied the report in the Korean magazine Woman Sense that he and his former girlfriend have reunited. The singer-actor also denied that the couple would be getting married.
His agency did say that he would take full responsibility if she were pregnant.
However, the singer has not been able to confirm if his ex is indeed pregnant because he has not been able to reach her.
The March issue of Woman Sense said that the ex-girlfriend, identified as Ms. Choi, was 10 weeks pregnant. The Korean media outlet Dispatch said the couple met up a few times after Choi dropped the assault charges. The outlet also said that he planned a special event for her birthday in November and that the couple vacationed together on Jeju Island during the Christmas holidays.
"It is true that Kim Hyun Joong and his ex-girlfriend, surnamed Choi, met up a few times after the lawsuit came to a close, but they agreed to go their separate ways at the end of last year," Key East said in a statement.
The Key East spokesperson said Choi contacted Kim in January. When they spoke she told him that she was pregnant.
"Kim and his parents tried to reach Choi several times to find out whether she was really pregnant and doing well," said the Key East representative. "Kim asked Choi to get a medical checkup at a hospital, but she rejected it."
Kim does not know where Choi is at the moment, but the agency said that he is there for her if she needs him.
"But Kim showed his willingness to be held fully accountable if Choi's pregnancy were found to be true."
Choi accused Kim of multiple incidents of assault in August 2014 and documented one incident with photographs and a medical report. Kim admitted they had one fight that turned physical but denied any ongoing abuse.
Choi asked for an apology. Kim made both a public and a private apology. In response, Choi dropped the charges. But the police sent the case to the prosecution anyway because Kim admitted one charge. He was ordered to pay a fine of approximately $5,000 in January.
Kim Hyun Joong is currently on a tour in Japan. The singer is also well known for his roles in such dramas as "Boys Over Flowers," "Playful Kiss" and "Inspiring Generation."
