Kang Dong Won Absent on BIFF: Voluntary or Miscommunication?
A staff member of the 18th Busan International Film Festival rejected actor Kang Dong Won's assertion that he had received a message from the Busan International Film Festival stating that he does not need to come if he is not planning to walk on the red carpet or have a press conference.
Kang Dong Won was expected to attend the GV (Conversation with the audience) for his most recent release, "The X (Director Kim Ji Un)," which is to take place during the Busan International Film Festival that opened in the afternoon of October 3, 2013, but confirmed his absence. Therefore, only director Kim Ji Un is confirmed to attend the GV (Conversation with the audience) for "The X" which is to take place at CGV Centerm City around 5 p.m. on October 4, 2013.
Kang Dong Won's side stated in the afternoon of October 3 to OSEN that, "We received a request from the Busan International Film Festival to attend the red carpet opening ceremony and gala presentation press release. However, we were only planning to attend the Busan International Film Festival on the fourth of October due to schedule conflict with the movie 'Gun do,' which Kang Dong Won is in the process of filming. When we explained our story, a staff member of the Busan International Film Festival said, 'he does not need to come if he is not planning to walk on the red carpet or have a press conference.'"
