Miss A's Suzy: A Year of Dating Scandals
Sung Joon must have become used to following miss A's Suzy around when he played her character's bodyguard in "Gu Family Book."
Recent photos showed the two actors at a Japanese restaurant. The photos showed him protectively placing his arm around her shoulders and in response she affectionately touched his hand.
The photos, which were taken in September but only released this week, sparked a frenzy of dating rumors, which Suzy's agency promptly denied.
"Suzy and Sung Joon are just close friends," said a JYP representative. "Other cast and staff members from the "Gu Family Book" were also there."
The agency said that the two often meet up with their "'Gu Family Book' co-stars Lee Seung Gi and Lee Yoo Bi.
"They definitely did not meet exclusively," insists her agency.
They had a perfectly reasonable explanation for the skinship and why Suzy picked up Sung Joon in her car so they could head to the restaurant together.
"They grew close because of their filming for "Gu Family Book" and they often meet up with their friends, but they are not dating," said the JYP representative.
Sung Joon, who appeared as the band leader in "Shut Up Flower Boy Band" and Kang Ji Hwan's younger brother in "Lie To Me," was also seen in "White Christmas" and "Can We Get Married." He was rumored to be dating his "White Christmas" co-star Esom.
It's also not the first time this year that Suzy was caught up in dating rumors. A few months ago, while she was filming "Gu Family Book," she was seen hanging out with Kim Soo Hyun, her "Dream High co-star. She acknowledged that they kept in touch and that he showed up on the "Gu Family Book" set to cheer her on. But she denied they were ever dating.
"We're pretty close friends so we exchanged some text messages," said Suzy when she appeared on the MBC show "Come To Play. "But when I mentioned that on TV, things got blown out of proportion."
And because of the obvious chemistry between them, rumors also linked Suzy with her "Gu Family Book' love interest Lee Seung Gi. He was quoted as saying that she was the type any man would find attractive and lovable. And she did say that he made her heart flutter when he kissed her. But those rumors quickly evaporated once the drama ended.
Dating in Korea often starts out with groups of friends going out together. And celebrities hardly dare going out together because they don't want everyone to know they are dating. So whether Sung Joon and Suzy are dating depends on your definition of dating. But would it be such a big deal if they were dating? What do you think?
