“Parasite” made History Winning 4 Awards at the 92nd Academy Awards Including Best Picture!

The Korean Film "Parasite" has made into the shortlist of nominees for the  International Feature Film in the famous 92nd Academy Awards or known as the Oscar Awards!

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced its shortlists for nine categories last December 17 KST.

The categories are: Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, International Feature Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, Music (Original Score), Music (Original Song), Animated Short Film, Live Action Short Film, and Visual Effects.

From every shortlist of ten, five final nominees was chosen and announced last January 13, 2020 together with the nominees for the remaining categories.

The film"Parasite," which has already gained an international popularity, has made the shortlist for International Feature Film together with the Spain's "Pain and Glory," France's "Les Misérables," and more.

"Parasite's" song titled "A Glass of Soju was sung by by actor Choi Woo Sik has also been announced as part of the shortlist for Music (Original Song). Some other songs that was part of the category was "Speechless" from "Aladdin," "Into the Unknown" from "Frozen 2," "Spirit" from "The Lion King," "(I'm Gonna) Love Me Again" from "Rocketman," and more.

The Oscars also known as the 92nd Academy Awards was held in the city of Los Angeles, California USA this 9th of February 2020 (Local Time). Director Bong Joon Ho's film titled "Parasite" is bringing home their four historic wins.

The film "Parasite" was previously nominated for six awards with Best Picture, Original Screenplay, Directing, Film Editing, Production Design, and International Feature Film. This film is considered as the first-ever Korean film to receive a nomination for Best Picture making it a history in the Korean Film industry. And to top it off, Bong Joon Ho is the first-ever Korean director to receive an Oscar nomination.

Having the six nominations, Bong Joon Ho's "Parasite" went home with four awards naming: Original Screenplay, International Feature Film, Directing, and most importantly the Best Picture award which the highest accolade of the night.

Take note that this is the very first time in the history of the Academy Awards ever since the awards ceremony started 92 years ago that a non-English language film has won Best Picture.

As of the moment "Parasite" holds the title of being the first Korean film to ever win at the Academy Awards, and the first film ever to take home the Best Picture and International Feature Film awards altogether. Its director Bong Joon Ho is the second Asian descent filmmaker to win the Directing award following Ang Lee. This films is the sixth non-English language film to be able to take home the Original Screenplay award and was the very first Asian-language film to do so.

All of the cast and crew of "Parasite" were also in present in the ceremony to celebrate the momentous occasion.
