Actor Song Joong Ki's upcoming sci-fi blockbuster film "Space Sweepers" is confirmed to air on Netflix soon, and everyone is excited!

On Friday, Nov. 20, it was confirmed by Netflix Korea that the Sci-Fi Film "Space Sweepers" will be released in over 190 countries and in 31 different languages. It will be released through Netflix without a theatrical run. The film's premiere schedule will also be announced soon.

The international streaming site Netflix announced, "We are glad to announce that Netflix will stream the Korean film 'Space Sweepers' simultaneously in 190 countries." They added, "Since Korean produced dramas and movies have become the most admired content in the world, we are expecting that this movie will also create a worldwide buzz."

"Space Sweepers" will star famous actors Song Joong Ki, Kim Tae Ri, Jin Sun Kyu, and Yoo Hae Jin. It will tell the story of a group of space scavengers on board the S.S. Victory in the year 2092. Song Joong Ki will portray the character of Tae Ho, a pilot of Spaceship Victory, which is maneuvered by a captain played by Kim Tae Ri. Together with them are crew members of the spaceship, Tiger Park played by Jin Seon-Kyu, and a robot (Yu Hae-Jin).

The team is looking for debris a.k.a "space trash" to be able to earn money. One day, they stumble upon an android, Dorothy, which they soon discover to be a lethal mass destruction weapon. The film is being set in a fictional universe where Earth is almost lifeless and destroyed by pollution. Upper-class people decided to create a new habitable world located in outer space.

The movie has been one of the most anticipated films in South Korea this year for its all-star cast, Song Joong-ki, Kim Tae Ri, and more. The film's first trailer was released on May 6, 2020, revealing that Space Sweepers would premier in theaters in Summer. However, on June 12, it was declared that the release will be postponed due to the rise of COVID-19 cases and planned to move the release during the Chuseok holiday. Then on August 3, the second trailer was released along with the film's release date which was on September 23, but once again, it was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Space Sweepers" is helmed by Director Jo Sung-hee, and the film marks the first-ever Korean sci-fi blockbuster film centered in outer space. In May 2019, the Chinese multinational entertainment company Huayi Tencent reportedly invested $4.2 million in the project. The visual effects company Dexter Studios, which was also the company behind the production of the action films, "Gods: The Two Worlds" and "Ashfall" were also hired to work with "Space Sweepers."
