'Crash Landing on You' Star Hyun Bin Wins 'U-Can New Word Award' in Japan

The hype of the hit Korean Drama "Crash Landing on You" once again resurfaced across the globe as one of its main cast, the prominent actor Hyun Bin, won an award in the "U-Can New Word Award" in Japan.
On Dec. 02, VAST Entertainment, Hyun Bin's agency, said, "Our actor Hyun Bin is receiving a lot of love from global fans with the tvN's hit drama 'Crash Landing on You.' This year, the whole of Asia was shaken with the Hyun Bin's syndrome, that allowed the actor be recognized and also win the popularity award in Japan."
According to VAST Entertainment, on the afternoon of Dec. 02, the Korean drama "Crash Landing on You" was selected as one its keywords in the "Basic Knowledge Line 2020 U-Can New Word Awards," which was held in Tokyo on Dec 01.
However, due to COVID-19 travel protocols, Hyun Bin missed to attend the event but he managed to express how grateful he was about the award through a video recording. The actor said, "This is indeed a meaningful award that stems from the warm love and support of our drama (Crash Landing On You) fans. I am also very happy to receive this award. Today, this award is not just for me but to the whole cast and crew of 'Crash Landing on You.' We will be sharing this award together."
The "U-Can New Word Awards" is run by the Japanese publishing company. It an emblematic award ceremony that selects ten keywords that have been loved by the public and has the biggest influence throughout the year. The ceremony started in 1984 and is continuously celebrated annually up to this day.
Every year, they select a new word and publish it as a book, "Basic Knowledge of Modern Terms." After the decisions have been made, they will hold a ceremony, and the Japanese media will announce all the winners.
On the other hand, Hyun Bin has established his power and influence over thousands of audience across the globe. He is also still gaining popularity through his previous drama "Crash Landing on You," which is still trending worldwide even after it's done.
Hyun Bin also received attention with his movie "The Negotiation." He was recently selected as the first Korean global ambassador of the global watch brand "OMEGA," showing off the actor's fever as his fame crosses borders and cultures, dominating the world with the power of the Korean wave (Hallyu).
Further, the actor, alongside his CLOY leading lady Son Ye Jin, have been named as the brand ambassadors for the Philippines' largest telecommunications company, SMART. Reports also noted that he will visit the country once the world heals, as per the CEO and founder of the country's popular clothing brand BENCH.
