The actress and professor have reportedly donated 10,000 guidebooks to the Korean Cultural Center, Los Angeles. This donation was done as part of the "Meet Our Country's History Abroad" series and to honor the Samil (March 1) Independence Movement, also known as the Manse Demonstrations.

This is the fifth time that Song Hye Kyo participated in the event as she also donated similar guidebooks to the cities of Shanghai, Tokyo, Paris, and more. The said guidebooks are created for both Korean and English users that introduce the history of the independence movement in Los Angeles.

Other things included in the guidebook are information about the Korea National Association Memorial Hall, the Ahn Chang Ho family house, the place in LA that is related to Ahn Chang Ho, Rosedale Memorial Park, and more.

The professor expressed his thoughts and said that because of the Hallyu influence worldwide, foreigners are becoming more interested in Korean culture and its history.

Professor Seo Kyung Duk added that he hopes that this will help give more information to Korean living overseas and the international students of the history of the independence movement in LA. And because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, the situation of the independence movement sites that remain overseas is not very good. It is high time for the general public to pay more attention to this.
