Son Ye Jin to Lead the Cast of New JTBC Drama "Thirty-Nine"

In a statement released by her Son Ye Jin's agency, MSTeam Entertainment, it states that the actress has decided to lead the cast of the JTBC drama.

Moreover, the company also shared that the actress is set to return to JTBC after three years.

"Son Ye Jin has decided on the upcoming JTBC drama '39' as her next project. This will be her first return to JTBC in three years following the drama 'Pretty Noona Who Buys Me Food.'"

Apart from the Hallyu star, "Hospital Playlist 2" actress Jeon Mi Do, Yeon Woo Jin, Ahn So Hee, and Lee Moo Saeng have been offered to star in the forthcoming drama.

Interestingly, the "Undercover" actor is set to act opposite Son Ye Jin and will be starring as the male lead.

Helmed by "Age of Youth 2" director Kim Sang Ho and penned by screenwriter Yoo Young Ah, whose famous drama includes "Encounter" and "Miracle in Cell No. 7," the soon to be released JTBC series follows the story of three friends who are in their late 30s. The drama would uncover their everyday lives and challenges as they turn 40.

Son Ye Jin is set to play the role of Cha Mi Jo, who grew up with a wealthy lifestyle. Aside from her beauty and fortune, she is also excelling in her career and is the chief director of a dermatology clinic in Gangnam. Despite her accomplishments, she still feels that something is missing in her life.

On the other hand, if Jeon Mi Do accepts the part, she will portray Cha Mi Jo's best friend, Jeong Chan Young, who is said to be a 39-year-old acting teacher.

According to multiple reports, once the broadcast network has finalized the lineup of the cast, K-drama "Thirty-Nine" will begin its filming session sometime in August.

In addition, the forthcoming drama will run for 12 episodes and is set to be produced under Lotte Cultureworks.
