'Little Women' Production Unit Addresses Historical Distortion Allegation

Kim Go Eun's "Little Women" has become one of the most popular works today, let alone 2022. Thanks to its intriguing storyline and outstanding cast.

The series depicts the story of three poor sisters whose lives change after getting involved with the most influential family in South Korea.

For six weeks, it reigned in the entertainment scene, receiving high praises and impressive scores. However, the drama also received backlash when the department of foreign affairs of Vietnam expressed their distaste for the work.

According to them, "Little Women" has allegedly distorted the history of the Vietnam War and tainted the name of the country.

They also petitioned for the drama to be halted but Netflix ignored the request. After the drama's conclusion, "Little Women" screenwriter Seo Jung Kyung breaks her silence.

"I used the history of the Vietnam war to explain the origin of money since it is the time of the true economic revival of South Korea," she reasoned. "In retrospect, the narrative lacked local perspective."
