This 2023, Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun are making their much awaited return to the small screen with MBC's newest romance series!

"Kokdu: Season of Deity" follows the story of a grim reaper who comes to Earth every 99 years to punish the sinners, and lives as a doctor in the human world after meeting a woman with bizarre abilities.

In the series, Kim Jung Hyun takes on the role of Kokdu, a grim reaper who lives as a doctor in the human world while Im Soo Hyang plays the role of Han Gye Jeol, a doctor who captures Kokdu's attention.

The new MBC series marks the two stars' first series since their debut. On January 10, the broadcast network revealed new photos of Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun in their respective roles.

In the photos, Kokdu and Han Gye Jeol exude a heart-fluttering aura as they share proximity that transcends time. Kokdu carries the other with a calm expression while Han Gye Jeol looks a bit surprised.

In another photo, Han Gye Jeol enthusiastically talks about her day while the other appears to listen closely, raising curiosity about their playful chemistry.

However, many fans claim that the two possess no chemistry at all, despite their unrivaled visuals. According to prospective viewers, Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun "just don't look compatible" together.

One comment stated, "It would've been better if they were paired with other actors. They just don't exude romantic vibes as a couple."

MBC, on the other hand, guarantees an enjoyable watching experience. The producers of the series promise that Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun will decorate a drama with a cider-like energy; a great year starter for avid K-drama fans.

Furthermore, the production unit asks fans to look forward to the couple's relationship, and how they meet once again after many years have passed.

'Kokdu: Season of Deity' Further Details and Release Date

Apart from the lead actors, "Kokdu: Season of Deity" also introduces familiar faces with reputable acting performances.

Kim Dasom and Ahn Woo Yeon join the cast ensemble as Im Soo Hyang and Kim Jung Hyun's family members, hinting at the chemistry they will share with the lead couple.

The two also tease viewers with their possible romance in the series. Moreover, Kim In Kwon and Cha Chung Hwa also participate to strengthen the work.

Helmed by directors Baek Soo Chan and Kim Ji Hoon and screenwriters Kang Yi Heon and Heo Jun Woo, "Kokdu: Season of Deity" will consist of a total of 16 episodes.
