'Agency' Episode 1: Go Ah In Displays Determination For Success

Lee Bo Young's comeback series "Agency" showcases how a woman thrives in a male-dominate workplace despite many hindering factors like poverty.

The first episode begins with Go Ah In's (Lee Bo Young) story; she's a self-made creative director who leads Production Team 2 of VC Planning, a large advertising company.

Growing up in poverty, Go Ah In had huge dreams. She is an orphan who, despite life's challenges and struggles, learned how to fend for herself.

Because not everyone knows about her past, her co-workers would often talk behind her back but that doesn't stop her from doing her thing. Go Ah In dreams of becoming the executive director of the company.

However, Director Choi Chang Soo (Jo Sung Ha) expresses his strong opposition to her plans, saying that women shouldn't lead the workforce.

On the day of the bidding, Production Team 1 Director Kwon Woo Cheol (Kim Dae Gon) steals Go Ah In's idea but little does he know, the latter planned this all along.

Go Ah In's idea was a "discarded copy" of her real proposal, all encrypted so no one could open it. She then reveals that her idea was stolen from her, putting the bad guys on the hot seat.

At the end of the episode, Go Ah In gets promoted to managing director. Although it's not the position she wanted, it's still a step closer to her dreams.

Unbeknownst to her, this is all part of Choi Chang Soo's plan, a transaction between him and Kim Tae Wan (Jung Seung Gil), the chief secretary of the VC Group.

In the second episode of the series, Go Ah In joins the celebratory dinner of the company, surprising everyone with her presence.

Because she's used to being alone and cold, she doesn't usually socialize with her colleagues. But now that she has become the managing director of the company, she wants to change things a little bit.

Unfortunately, her reign is cut short when Kim Tae Wan and VC Group Chairman Kang Yong Ho (Song Young Chang) announces that the promotion only lasts up to one year, which was approved by the previous managing director.

In addition to the surprising turn of events, the chairman appoints her youngest daughter, Kang Han Na (Son Na Eun) as the executive director of the company, much to Go Ah In's dismay.

But the orphaned Go Ah In sees this as an opportunity to further improve herself. As a child who was abandoned by her own mother, she knew how to navigate unexpected mishaps and struggles without backing down.

Instead of resigning from the position, she asks Yoo Jung Seok (Jang Hyun Sung), her mentor for advice: to fight for what's right.

At the end of the episode, Go Ah In wages war against Choi Chang Soo whom she wishes to be demoted by the board of trustees from being a team leader to a team member.

Even more so, Kang Han Na arrives from the United States, raising expectations about the future interactions of the conglomerate heir and the orphan girl.
