Jung Ji So is slowly carving her name in the industry with back-to-back dramas this 2023!

Earlier this 2022, she showed off her impeccable acting prowess as the young counterpart of Song Hye Kyo in the smash hit drama "The Glory."

Prior to its return to the small screen, Jung Ji So delivers good news to her fans! On March 3, it was announced that the young star bagged the remake drama "Miss Granny"!

Clever and comical, the drama brings laughter and life lessons as viewers follow the life of Oh Mal Soon, a 70-year-old woman who one day wakes up in a 20-year-old young woman's body.

The work was originally released as a film in 2014 with Shim Eun Kyung as the lead actress. With the new generation of actresses, Jung Ji So was named to be the next "Miss Granny."

Jung Ji So's 'Miss Granny' Casting Receives Mixed Reactions

While her fans relished the good news, some viewers have mixed feelings about the casting. At 23 years old, Jung Ji So has worked with many top notch works like "Parasite" and "Curtain Call."

However, the actress hasn't done anything aligned in the comedy genre, hence, making "Miss Granny" her first ever comical acting debut.

Fans come to the actress' defense, saying that Jung Ji So has the ability to seamlessly transform in any given role. 

In fact, the South Korean star was lauded for her performance as young Song Hye Kyo in "The Glory," which was her first ever physically and emotionally draining work.

'Miss Granny' Further Details & What We Know So Far

Due to its meaningful and laugh-inducing narrative, "Miss Granny" enjoyed box office success during its release in 2014, even topping the international film "Frozen."

"Miss Granny" has also been remade in Asian countries including Vietnam, the Philippines, Japan, China, India, Indonesia and Thailand, and is now coming to South Korea in a drama format!

With that, focus is given to Jung Ji So, who will headline the 16-parter drama remake this 2023.

Apart from the original narrative, the production unit of the upcoming series guarantees to showcase a series of mystery and solid emotional scenes to satisfy the viewers.

"Miss Granny" will be helmed by Heo Seung Min, the writer of "A Bluebird Has It," while "Secret Mother" director Park Yong Soon will handle the megaphone.

As for the final cast lineup, the production unit revealed that offers to veteran stars have been made but there's no news regarding the matter yet.

"Miss Granny" drama remake begins filming in the second quarter of the year, following the finalization of cast members.
