Every year, the Hallyu entertainment scene continues to release world class works that appeal to the general public, not only in South Korea but also abroad.

From the heart-thumping romance works, the South Korean show business leveled up as it now creates films about natural disasters, man made calamities and even the apocalypse.

Here are four amazing works to choose from! Don't forget to check these out!

'Pandora'

In 2016, Kim Nam Gil starred in "Pandora," one of the most popular disaster films that was ever released in South Korea.

He transformed into a local power plant employee whose run-of-the-mill life changes upside down when a nuclear-meltdown-inducing earthquake exposes them to radiation.

Tragically mirrors the Greek story of Pandora, the film is a brilliant masterpiece that everyone needs to watch at least once in life.

'Tidal Wave'

Ha Ji Won and Sol Kyung Gu's "Tidal Wave" is one of the first ever disaster themed films that not only grossed domestically but also internationally.

The film follows the life of a marine geologist who is branded as a lunatic after warning the public about an underwater earthquake that triggers a worldwide tsunami.

"Tidal Wave" is a work that wages war against time and the wave, and like "Pandora," it's also a must watch!

'Sinkhole'

One of the latest disaster works is the 2021 film "Sinkhole" which stars Cha Seung Won, Lee Kwang Soo and Kim Sung Kyun.

It became the fastest film to reach a million admissions within a week of its release in 2021, thanks to its intriguingly funny premise.

"Sinkhole" follows a family who moves into a billion-dollar house. After throwing a celebratory party, a heavy rain results in an enormous sinkhole that engulfs not only the house but also the people inside it.

Before the hole fills the brim, they need to find the solution to evacuate themselves. "Sinkhole" is a witty masterpiece that transcends novelty, and every disaster film enthusiast must check it out!

'Emergency Declaration'

Amidst the height of the pandemic, Kim Nam Gil, Song Kang Ho, Lee Byung Hun, Jeon Do Yeon and more veteran stars created the 2021 aviation disaster action film "Emergency Declaration"!

It depicts how different individuals from all walks of life come together as one in order to save themselves from an unprecedented terror a million feet above the ground.

"Emergency Declaration" was first screened at the Cannes Film Festival in 2021. In particular, it is the eighth highest grossing film with a total of 23 million USD.
