Lee Sang Yi Reveals Thoughts on New Drama 'Bloodhounds'

This June, Lee Sang Yi teamed up with Woo Do Hwan in the brand new Netflix series "Bloodhounds."

The two actors transformed into young boxing champs who were recruited to fight an evil force in a world where money is equivalent to people's lives.

"Bloodhounds" captured the fans' attention as it decorated the television screen with gravity-defying scenes and well-written narrative.

At the moment of this writing, the series has risen to the No. 2 spot in Netflix's global charts of non-English TV shows. It topped 40 countries including South Korea, Brazil, France and more.

Although the work has been received with great reviews by the public, "Bloodhounds" had its fair share of controversy that hindered the work's progress and some established scenes.

However, Lee Sang Yi didn't feel any agitation regarding the past issues as he was certain that the work would be a hit, all thanks to the cast's synergy and well-rounded production team.

"It was difficult but working with the "Bloodhounds" cast and crew was fun," Lee Sang Yi stated. "I prepared a lot for this work so please give it a lot of love."

To recall, "Bloodhounds" marks Lee Sang Yi's first action work. Prior to filming, he learned the fundamentals of boxing, and also exercised and worked hard to bulk up in a month.

"The Netflix series is a great opportunity for me to prove my talents," Lee Sang Yi added. "I'm grateful to the people who tuned in to the work."

Lee Sang Yi Dishes on Friendship With Kim Sung Cheol

Lee Sang Yi is among the several members of the legendary alumni of Korea National University of Arts.

The class includes top stars Kim Go Eun, Ahn Eun Jin, Park So Dam and Kim Sung Cheol. All actors have proven themselves with their recent works that dominated the acting scene.

However, comparisons were inevitable when it comes to them. When asked whether Lee Sang Yi had ill feelings with "Our Beloved Summer" star Kim Sung Cheol, the former denied any malice.

Lee Sang Yi and Kim Sung Cheol are great friends who rose to stardom; from building their reputable names in the theater stage to venturing into the television scene.

"I never envied him," Lee Sang Yi clarified. "We are always happy for each other's works and achievements. If I had been jealous of Sung Cheol, I would have never met him for a long time."

The "Bloodhounds" star revealed that they would always meet up and eat together. Lee Sang Yi also stated that they have their own acting styles and as close friends, they always support one another.

As for his career, Lee Sang Yi hyped the fans by saying that he'd continue dominating both the musical stage and the big screens in the coming years.
