After officially returning to show business, Jang Ki Yong is making a comeback with the new drama "I'm Not a Hero."

Following his discharge from the military in February 2023, the South Korean heartthrob is booked and busy with projects - among these is the upcoming series.

To recall, in the same month of his return as a civilian, he was offered to headline the romance-fantasy series.

At the time, his agency, YG Entertainment, confirmed that the actor had received a casting offer and was positively reviewing it.

Months later, it was announced that Jang Ki Yong will be headlining the upcoming K-drama "I'm Not a Hero" together with Chun Woo Hee.

Jang Ki Yong Expresses Excitement for His K-Drama Comeback

In a report cited by a local media outlet, the actor is thrilled to return to show business, especially with a new K-drama.

"It's been a long time since I've worked on a project," Jang Ki Yong said, adding that he is working on it with mixed emotions, "half excitement and half anticipation."

"I will bring this pleasant excitement and greet you with better work. We ask for a lot of expectations and interest," the actor added, inviting fans and the public to watch his new drama.

As the series gears up for its release, here's what we know about Jang Ki Yong's new drama, "I'm Not a Hero."

Jang Ki Yong Transforms into a Superhero

The upcoming K-drama follows the story of a family with superhuman abilities. Jang Ki Yong plays the character Bok Ki Joo, who harbors the superpower of revisiting his past.

Unfortunately, he lost his powers due to depression. Interestingly, he meets Do Da Hae, played by Chun Woo Hee, in the most difficult time of his life.

On the other hand, Do Da Hae also harbors a secret. Like Bok Ki Joo, she has psychic powers but lost it due to an incident.

'I'm Not A Hero' To Be Helmed by Geniuses Behind 'SKY Castle' & 'Introverted Boss'

As "I'm Not a Hero" unveils its lead stars, the upcoming romance fantasy series is helmed by Cho Hyun Tak, who directed hit K-dramas such as "SKY Castle," "Maids," "Mirror of the Witch," and "Snowdrop."

Joining him in the K-drama is screenwriter Joo Hwa Mi, the person who wrote "Marriage, Not Dating," "Waiting for Love," and "Introverted Boss."

Apart from the duo, Jang Ki Yong's new drama "I'm Not a Hero" will be under JTBC and is co-produced by Writing & Drawing Media, the company behind "Romance is a Bonus Book" and "Gyeongseong Creature."

With the lineup of the cast and the start of production this August, "I'm Not a Hero" targets releasing its pilot episode sometime in 2024.
