The "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman" cast Kim Jong Soo and Lee Dong Hwi shared how they got to know BLACKPINK's Jisoo, who happens to be one of the guest stars in the blockbuster movie.

During the cast members appearance in SBS Power FM's "Cultwo Show," Lee Dong Hwi and Kim Jong Soo dish on their experience filming the fantasy film.

One of the things that viewers were looking forward to watching in "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman" is the BLACKPINK member's special participation.

It can be recalled that during the movie's press conference, director Kim Sung Sik made a surprise announcement saying that Jisoo would make a cameo in the movie, taking on a traditional Korean fairy role.

According to the filmmaker, it was her K-drama "Snowdrop" that captured his attention, and he thought that the idol actress was a perfect fit for the character of Fairy.

"It was 50% fan sentiment and 50% because her schedule fit," the director also added, as obtained by a media outlet.

Speaking of "Snowdrop," Jisoo's co-star Kim Jong Soo also plays one of the main characters in "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman."

During his radio guesting, the actor mentioned that he contacted the BLACKPINK member after hearing the news regarding her cameo.

"After hearing the news, I texted Jisoo and asked, 'Did you read the scenario? '. Jisoo replied that she hadn't read it yet and promised to meet on the set," he said, as cited by a different news portal.

While everyone looked surprised by the actor's connection with Jisoo, he said that they became close through "Snowdrop" and still keep in touch with each other even after the series ended.

In addition, the actor also shared that he watched BLACKPINK's concert, which was his first ever concert that he attended.

"I was waving the lightstick in the standing area," he added.

As mentioned, viewers are thrilled to see Jisoo play an interesting character on the big screen; however, after 'Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman's teasers showcased more of the idol singer, Jisoo's cameo role, which caused a stir on the internet.

At the time, "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman" was a few weeks away from its premiere when netizens accused the movie of plagiarizing the 2007 Chinese drama "The Fairies of Liaozhai," in which actress Cecilia Liu played a fairy role.

On social media, users post side-by-side photos of Jisoo and Cecilia Liu's characters, showing their uncanny resemblance.

Due to this, some accused the Korean movie of plagiarism and cultural appropriation.

Thankfully, the issue died down after "Dr. Cheon and Lost Talisman" officially hit theaters.

Now, the fantasy action film tops the Chuseok holiday box office, surpassing one million ticket sales in just three days since its debut, as mentioned by the Korea Times.
