From the revenge drama "The Glory" to the superhero series "Moving," the year 2023 offered a plethora of outstanding releases in Hallyu which captivated fans all around the globe.

However, there were works that failed to receive recognition from the viewers despite boasting a star-studded ensemble. Here are four of them. Keep on reading.

'Sweet Home 2'

Fans expressed their disappointment after the release of the second installment of "Sweet Home."

No one expected the work to flop as it's among the best series that Netflix has ever released. However, viewers believe that the three-year wait for Season 2 wasn't worth it.

Because the series was patterned on a webtoon, many were surprised when the producers swayed away from the original plot which made the season "boring" and "unnecessary."

In addition, new characters that had nothing to do with the plot were introduced, erasing iconic figures from Season 1. The CGI (computer-generated imagery) was deemed "disappointing."

Hopefully, "Sweet Home" bounces back in Season 3, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024.

'Vigilante'

Despite having Nam Joo Hyuk in the headline, the drama still fell short in delivering an unforgettable narrative.

Many fans think that the show had a lot of potential but the plot execution wasn't done properly. The genre was also all over the place as if the writers didn't know what they wanted to deliver.

It would have been more impactful if Nam Joo Hyuk's character avenged his mother's death as an undercover police as revenge dramas were the most watched genre in 2023.

'The Heavenly Idol'

Leading "The Heavenly Idol" after his buzzworthy performance in "Business Proposal" was a total letdown.

Viewers thought that the story of a priest becoming an idol was a recipe for disaster even if it was portrayed by Hallyu superstar Kim Min Gyu.

While the work had comical elements and heart-thumping scenes, the sheer ridiculousness of the plot just didn't work for most K-drama fans, which sends "The Heavenly Idol" in this list.

'See You In My 19th Life'

Even after casting Ahn Bo Hyun and Shin Hye Sun, fans were disappointed with the dramatization of "See You In My 19th Life."

Not only did it butcher the original plot in the webtoon, the focus on the villainous characters in the show instead of the wholesome and heartfelt stories of family and friendship was the icing on top of the disastrous cake.

Moreover, fans also saw no chemistry between the two actors despite being Hallyu's most sought-after stars.
