Amid the criticisms, the Netflix historical sci-fi series "Gyeongseong Creature" continues to secure its top spot in the most buzzworthy works in Hallyu.

Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee's new drama remains unbeatable even after weeks since it was released. This 2024, Part 2 is finally making its debut.

'Gyeongseong Creature' Successfully Maintains Box Office Success

Even after its premiere, Netflix's "Gyeongseong Creature" continues to enjoy its successful reign in the home theaters.

The drama starring Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee made its debut in December 2023, and depicted the stories of humankind's grief, struggles and greed.

It's a well-packaged show that offers a plethora of genres including romance, mystery, science fiction and action. According to Good Data Corporation, the show ranked first in the list.

"Gyeongseong Creature" even bested "My Demon," "Love Song For Illusion" and "Maestra: Strings of Truth," which are all highly regarded works in the final quarter of 2023.

With this, the criticisms that surrounded "Gyeongseong Creature" within the first week of broadcast were lessened as the VON (voice of netizens) guaranteed a worthwhile watching experience for the drama.

Moreover, the show also became the most watched non-English release on Netflix in South Korea, recording a whopping 25 million viewing hours in just a few days of its release.

It also entered the Top 10 in other countries like Singapore, the Philippines and more, proving its success.

Han So Hee Addresses Malicious Comments On New Drama

During the premiere of "Gyeongseong Creature," a huge commotion among fans stole the show.

Many Japanese fans left malicious comments on Han So Hee's personal social media pages, terrorizing the Netflix star due to the "negative" portrayal of the Japanese army and their crimes.

The viewers accused Han So Hee of "hating" Japan, its culture, history and more. Han So Hee broke her silence and responded to the comments.

She posted Ahn Jung Geun's photo as a symbol of the Korean independence activist, saying that "Gyeongseong Creature" depicted a dark time about the monster created by human greed.

According to the actress, it's not the drama's intention to ruin Japan's reputation. However, it depicted the "spring the people felt during the Japanese colonial era."

While many worried about Han So Hee's rising career as Japan is one of the biggest markets for Hallyu, fans lauded the actress' courage to stand her ground and personal opinion.

On the other hand, "Gyeongseong Creature" Part 2, which consists of three episodes, will be released on January 5 on Netflix. Don't miss it.
