Jang Shin-young shared that she had to be hurried to the emergency room recently due to severe anxiety after filming the first drama in three years, talking about how much mental strain it took on her long-awaited comeback and the aftermath of her husband's affair controversy in the past.

On the June 6 episode of KBS 2TV's Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, the 40-year-old actress discussed the challenges she faced preparing for her comeback role, including a hospital visit caused by stress and nerves.
"I was so nervous about returning to acting that I ended up going to the ER," Jang said. "The moment was both physically and emotionally intense."
Jang, who rose to fame through numerous drama roles in the 2000s and 2010s, credited her son's encouraging words as a turning point that gave her strength to continue.
"You said you'd do your best, so stay strong and go for it. I believe in you," her son told her.
Jang added with a smile, "He jokingly asked, 'Mom, you haven't lost your touch, right?'"
The actress also shared that the director of her upcoming drama reassured her during a moment of self-doubt.
"The director told me, 'You were our top pick for the role,' and that gave me the confidence to keep going," she said.
Jang's return comes after a turbulent period in her personal life. Her husband, actor Kang Kyung-joon, was sued in 2023 by a man who alleged that Kang had an affair with his wife.
The lawsuit sought ₩50 million KRW (about $36,000 USD) in damages and included KakaoTalk messages as evidence. The case was settled in July 2024.
In October, Jang addressed the scandal on the SBS variety show My Little Old Boy, where she said she had made the difficult decision to forgive Kang and continue their relationship for the sake of their children.
Jang's tale has captured the hearts of many viewers and followers, noting her determination and poise in the aftermath of her tribulations.
And now she is set to make her small-screen comeback in a starring role as a single mother, a role many are interpreting as a reflection of her real-life strength.
