She noted the lack of real Jeju dialect in a series set on the island where she was born.

On July 16 video of Sung Si Kyung's YouTube channel SUNG SI KYUNG, Soyou joined singers Jo Jazz and Lim Seulong for a casual chat over drinks.

When asked if she had watched the Jeju-themed show, Soyou said, "I did, but I was a little disappointed," which led to teasing from her co-stars.

"We're about to make a comeback," Lim Seulong joked, while Sung Si Kyung added, "Let's cut this part," which made everyone laugh.

Soyou quickly explained that her disappointment wasn't about the show's story or production, but the missing Jeju dialect.

"As someone from Jeju, I was excited to hear more of the dialect," she said, mentioning the 2022 drama Our Blues, which featured local speech.

"It was fun watching people struggle to understand the Jeju dialect [in Our Blues]. I enjoyed interpreting it. I wanted to do that again, but I couldn't. Still, the drama was very enjoyable."

Soyou, who moved to Seoul at eight, is affectionately known as "Jeju's Girl" by fans, a nickname that shows her pride in her hometown.

Her critique reflects a deeper appreciation for her culture rather than a negative view of the show's artistic value.

On the same day, the former SISTAR member also made her musical return by releasing her digital single "P.D.A." (Public Display of Affection), a sultry pop track that adds to her growing solo discography.

From her honest comments on regional representation to her musical comeback, Soyou continues to win fans over with her authenticity and strong sense of identity.
