The Seoul Jungbu Police Station confirmed the charge. "On August 16, Choi was accused of stalking a woman he had known by reportedly showing up at her home while armed with a weapon," police said.

Prosecutors retaliated by requesting emergency legal protection. "On August 18, the Seoul Central District Court granted the protective measures, citing the urgency and repeated nature of the stalking behavior," authorities explained.

According to the emergency order, Choi is not allowed to come within 100 meters of the victim and is not allowed to call or text her. The officials stated that "breaking the order can lead to one year in prison or a 10 million KRW (~7,500 USD) fine."

The police confirmed that the investigations are ongoing. "We are actively conducting further investigations into the specifics of the alleged stalking incident and other related circumstances," they stated.

Meanwhile, Former idol-turned-actor Choi Jung Won has been officially ruled a key cause in the divorce of "Woman A" by the Seoul Family Court in January 2025.

The court determined that Woman A's extramarital affair with Choi contributed significantly to her marital breakdown with "Man B."

Despite Choi's earlier denials and claims of blackmail, evidence showed multiple secret meetings between him and Woman A, including dates at Hangang Park and visits to his home. The court noted she even left her young son unattended at times to meet Choi.

As part of the divorce ruling, Woman A was ordered to pay her ex-husband KRW 30 million (about USD 20,600) in damages. Man B has also filed a separate lawsuit directly against Choi.

Choi, 43, a former member of first-generation idol group UN turned actor, has yet to issue a statement on the decision.
