Jin Tae-hyun has spoken about his home life after surviving thyroid cancer, revealing his adopted daughter is a marathon athlete working for the Gyeonggi Provincial Office.

On Aug. 24, Jin shared a number of pictures and a lengthy post on social media thanking his daughter and them for sharing time with him.

Welcoming her into the public eye for the very first time, he posted, "I spend the summer and winter in Daegwallyeong and Jeju Island.

The biggest bonus of the trip is that I get to spend time with my adopted daughter, a marathon runner for the Gyeonggi Provincial Office."

He went on with gratitude for their relationship, stating, "It's already been almost a year since we became a family. I'm just grateful for the time we spend eating together and taking care of each other."

Jin, who accompanied his daughter to a training camp in Gangwon-do this summer, expressed his wishes for her athletic career.

"I hope she becomes a great marathoner who is a little more restrained and isolated. I know very well that it is difficult to achieve success by doing what everyone else does, so it feels like I have met a proper adoptive father" he said.

The celebrity also emphasized the importance of her working career. "It's really amazing that the adopted daughter of an actor couple who are active as public relations ambassadors for Gyeonggi Provincial Office is a Gyeonggi Provincial Office marathon runner.

I plan to stay with them until I retire. Please give us lots of support and attention."

Looking back on the suffering of young athletes, Jin continued, "At the training center, I often see young athletes secretly crying or struggling in a corner.

I feel even more touched when I think about myself as a child, as a bit-part actor. I hope that our country will have many great track and field stars, and I hope you will show interest."

With the family news, Jin also calmed down fans regarding his health. Having undergone surgery for thyroid cancer in June, he stated,

"All cancer cells in my body have disappeared. I'm still recovering, but I love my wife even more and will work hard to run in the 4-minute range again. I will slowly and steadily regain my health."

Actor Jin Tae-hyun wed actress Park Si-eun in 2015. The pair welcomed a college-aged adopted daughter in 2019 and now live with three daughters, including their marathoner.
