Suzy Is Having The Best Year
This is turning out to be a great year for miss A's Suzy. First, she starred in "Gu Family Book," a very popular drama, in which she got to kiss Lee Seung Gi. Then her acting in that drama got her nominated for a "20's Choice Award" for the third year in a row.
The idol singer, rapper and dancer is also a popular casting choice for commercials. In the last year she signed more than 20 contracts with advertising agencies, earning her the nickname, "$10 million girl."
While this is her third nomination for the "20's Choice Award," she is also a celebrity who has achieved many firsts. She was the first female Korean singer to win rookie awards for singing, acting in a drama and acting in a film. And that was all after she won the Best New Actress Award at the 48th Baeksang Awards. She's the kind of celebrity that people admire because she is charming and talented but humble. As a result, she was also the first Korean female celebrity to have more than a million Twitter followers.
At her first Mnet "20's Choice" event in 2010, she won the HOT New Star Award for outstanding achievement during that year. That was the year she appeared as Go Hye Mi in the drama "Dream High." Her role in the drama earned the actress the KBS Best New Actress Award and a "Best Couple" award with her co-star Kim Soo Hyun.
In 2012, she was nominated for her role in the film "Architecture 101." In that film she played Yang Seo Yeon, a young woman in love for the first time. She won. She also won the Baeksang "Best New Movie Actress Award for that role, a Hot Female Movie Star award from the 5th Style Icon Awards and a Blue Dragon "First Love Fantasies" award.
This year she has been nominated for her role as Dam Yeo Wool in "Gu Family Book," a drama, which held first place in the ratings for the duration of the series.
Her competition consists of Song Hye Kyo from the SBS drama "That Winter The Wind Blows," Kim Hye Soo from the KBS drama "The Queen of the Office" and Lee Bo Young from the KBS drama "My Daughter Seo Young."
