Confirmed: IU to Star in the Upcoming Film of Koreeda Hirokazu ‘Broker’
Another star-studded Korean movie is about to kick-off, starring prominent actors Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, Bae Doo Na, and IU!
IU to make a return on the big screen!
In a recent report on Feb 1, a source from the production house handling the forthcoming film confirmed that singer and actress IU would join the cast of the movie "Broker."
"IU will indeed star in Koreeda Hirokazu's movie 'Broker.'"
In August 2020, it was confirmed that the award-winning Japanese director Koreeda Hirokazu would be working on his first-ever Korean film. Before, "Parasite" actor Song Kang Ho, Kang Dong Won, and "Kingdom" actress Bae Doo Na were the first three Korean artists to confirm that they will play as the main leads in the upcoming movie. On the first day of February 2021, another multi-talented artist will join the lineup, none other than "Hotel Del Luna's" actress Lee Ji Eun, popularly known as "IU."
Koreeda Hirokazu's forthcoming film "Broker" is about the story of people who are no longer able to raise and provide their babies' basic needs and decided to anonymously bring them to a place where other people can adopt and take good care of the babies.
'Broker' director finally making his visions come to life!
Director Hirokazu also shared that he already started planning the movie five years ago. He met the production team in Korea and helped him construct and finalize the movie "Broker," and now, the 52-year-old director is finally making his visions come to life.
Meanwhile, Zip Cinema will be the one in charge of the production. They were also the production house behind the successful movies such as Netflix's "#ALIVE," "Default," "The Most Ordinary Love," "The Priests," and "Master." CJ ENM will also be taking part in the project, for they are expected to distribute the film.
The script for the movie "Broker" is finally being penned and is scheduled to start filming this year (2021).
Also, Japanese director Koreeda Hirokazu is known for his magnificent works. In fact, he already won awards in the past years. In 2013, he won the Jury Prize at Cannes Film Festival for the movie "Like Father, Like Son," five years later, he won the Palme d'Or at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival for the film "Shoplifters."
Viewers and international fans are already thrilled to see this star-studded and much-awaited movie starring some of the biggest artists in South Korea.
Idol and actress IU also has an upcoming movie titled "Dream" alongside actor Park Seo Joon. They began filming last 2020 and are still finishing some scenes before they kicked off in cinemas. IU's latest acting project was in the drama "Hotel Del Luna," where she plays Jang Man Wol's character.
