‘Recalled’ Premiere Starring Kim Kang Woo and Seo Ye Ji Tops Box Office + Beats Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum’s ‘Seobok’

"Recalled," also known as "Tomorrow's Memory," soars on it's debut featuring lead stars Kim Kang Woo and Seo Ye Ji. 

In a new report, the aggregate computer network of Yeongjinwi's cinema cited that the thriller mystery movie garnered a cumulative audience of 19,281 on its first day. 

This makes "Recalled" the landing top spot for the box office and surpassing Gong Yoo and Park Bo Gum's movie, "Seobok."

To recall, the sci-fi film managed to reign at the box office for six consecutive days since its debut last April 15. 

The Lee Yong Joo directed film scored a whopping 258,481 cumulative number of audiences and has achieved a 45,155 on its first day of simultaneous release.

Aside from the duo, completing the "Recalled" cast are Park Sang Wook, Bae Je Ki, Sung Hyuk, Kim Joo Ryung, Yeom Hye Ran, and Bae Yoo Ram. 

The movie follows the life of the married couple Su Jin (Seo Ye Ji) and Ji Hoon (Kim Kang Woo), who found themselves in a challenging situation. 

The plot rises after Su Jin lost her memory due to a car accident. While on the recovery stage, Ji Hoon played the doting husband and took care of her. 

Interestingly, she began to see the future and faced a surprising reality about her husband's dark secret.

Does Seo Ye Ji's Controversy Affected "Recalled"

The recently debuted film is Seo Ye Ji's comeback movie following her 2019 film "Quantum Physics."

Ahead of the "Recalled" premiere, the lead actress faced a wave of backlash after being embroiled in the issue involving his then-boyfriend Kim Jung Hyun and his "The Time" co-star, SNSD's Seohyun.  

Dispatch released an exchange of their personal message showing that the "It's Okay to Not be Okay" actress instructed the actor to refrain from doing "skinship" and avoid physical contact with the singer-actress. 

She was accused of being the mastermind behind the "Crash landing on You" actor's rude behavior towards the Girls' generation member and the production team of "The Time."

Moreover, the issue regarding school violence, staff bullying resurfaced as well as being criticized over falsifying her educational background. 

So, does her bad publicity affect "Recalled?" It appears that fans are unfazed by Seo Ye Jin's controversy as the movie premiere received a positive response not only during its first day but also prior to its release. 

Earlier this week, multiple reports cited that the mystery thriller film ranked number 1 in the early reservations, according to Korean Box Office Information System (KOBIS.)

At the time, the much-awaited film scored an overall reservation rate of 46 percent a day before its debut. 

Seo Ye Ji Cancels Her Appearance in "Recalled" Press Con

The 31-year-old actress is now show during her comeback movie's press conference amid the allegation she's facing. 

In an official statement, the actress mentioned that she wouldn't be attending the said event due to some "personal reasons."

It was only Kim Kang Woo and "Recalled" director Seo Yoo Min, who appeared at the press conference.
