'Taxi Driver' Cast Lee Je Hoon Reveals True Emotions About Playing an Ex-Convict in 'Move to Heaven'

Lee Je Hoon has graced the cover of The Big Issue Korea's 251st issue and has taken the opportunity to talk about his upcoming drama "Moe to Heaven." His role is quite interesting here since he plays an ex-convict.

Lee Je Hoon Talks 'Move to Heaven' Role, Plot

At present, the actor is still starring at the highly-rated SBS drama "Taxi Driver." But on May 14, his newest Netflix original series, "Move to Heaven," will be dropped already. Fans can have an eyeful of the character in two very different series and characters.

According to Lee Je Hoon, reading the script for the first time was enough to make him feel attached to the story. He said he never felt so much sympathy for a character in his time as an actor and that he never shed so many tears just by reading a scene. He also shared that he learned a lot about trauma cleaners and the disease Asperger's syndrome because of this project.

"Move to Heaven" is about an ex-convict who feels quite hopeless about the future. This ex-convict is called Jo Sang Gu, the character played by Lee Je Hoon. Sang Gu would see his life changed when his nephew, Han Gu Ru, who has Asperger's Syndrome, was entrusted to him. Han Gu Ru is played by Tang Jun Sang.

The two would pair up to work as trauma cleaners or those who clean up crime scenes and sort out the belongings of a deceased person. This short summary of the plot alone is enough to show that the series would be about a mix of heartwarming things - the importance of family, the value of communication, the need to understand diseases such as Asperger's, and the necessity of hope. It certainly placed a context to what Lee Je Hoon said about his role and the whole show.

"It's a very good human drama, so I hope many people watch it," he also said. "Various events in our society are genuinely incorporated in this drama," he added.

Lee Je Hoon Transforms His Appearance for New Drama

Apart from taking on emotions he never felt before because of this new role; he also had to transform into someone the viewers would know as being a hopeless, ex-convict. He never played one before, so he had to undergo some changes to portray the character well. He had to change his hair and how he moves.

Meanwhile, fans of "Taxi Driver" are anticipated to be surprised with Lee Je Hoon's character in "Move to Heaven."

"Taxi Driver's" ratings have continuously shot up as weeks pass by because of the interesting plot and Lee Je Hoon's portrayal. The show is based on the popular webtoon of the same name, "Taxi Driver," and revolves around a mysterious taxi service that can exact vengeance on behalf of victims who cannot get the justice they want through the law or the court.

Lee Je Hoon plays Kim Do Gi, a former special forces officer and the driver of this mysterious service.

As said, "Move to Heaven" is dropping on May 14 at 4 p.m. KST.
