‘True Beauty’ Star Lee Sang Jin to Join Lee Do Hyun in tvN’s New Drama ‘Melancholia’
Rookie actor Lee Sang Jin is cast to join Lee Do Hyun in the forthcoming tvN drama "Melancholia."
Lee Sang Jin to Play as Lee Do Hyun's Friend in 'Melancholia'
Remember An Hyun Kyu? the friendly and humorous student in tvN's romantic-comedy series "True Beauty. His real name is Lee Sang Jin and he is about to appear in the upcoming melodrama "Melancholia" along with Lee Do Hyun and Im Soo Jung.
Lee Sang Jin's agency Different Company confirmed on September 8 that the actor will be making his drama return with "Melancholia." He will be playing the role of Park Hyung Do, a genuine and cheerful character who is a close friend to Baek Sung Yu (Lee Do Hyun).
He has a passion for dancing and has been active in their school dance club alongside his friends Baek Sung Yu and Lee Hyun Jae (Lee Kang Ji). Lee Sang Jin's role is said to add vitality to the drama.
In addition to the report, "Melancholia" will be the second drama project between director Kim Sang Hyeop and Lee Sang Jin. They first worked in the recent 2020-2021 drama "True Beauty."
Lee Sang Jin successfully finished his acting debut in "True Beauty" as a supporting role and became a scene-stealer for digesting smart and comic acting as a high school student. Now that he will be working on his second drama, many are already looking forward to his performance.

After Different Company announced the good news, Lee Sang Jin expressed his gratitude and excitement towards his next project. According to him, "I will do my best to show new sides of myself and also it is my way of saying thank you to all of those people who gave me the opportunity to be able to act again in a new project."
He added, "Park Hyung Do is a loyal and warm character and I will show good acting and build good chemistry with the staff and crew in order to have a bright atmosphere in the set of the drama. Please show a lot of support to me and to 'Melancholia."
Meanwhile, "Melancholia" is scheduled to premiere in the second half of 2021.
