The 27-year-old beauty is reaping the rewards of her success after her breakthrough performance in the worldwide hit Kdrama "Squid Game."

To recall, she played the role of player number 240 Ji Yeong, who faced a heartbreaking death during her match with Jung Ho Yeon's character Kang Sae Byeok.

Lee Yoo Mi on Winning Rookie of the Year Award

The nine-part episode series definitely opened a lot of doors not just for the main cast but also for the supporting actors, just like 27-year-old who recently took home recognition in the 2021 Buil Film Awards.

Lee Yoo Mi won Best New Actress for her role as Yoon Se Jin in the movie "Young Adult Matters."

She managed to beat Moon Hye In for "The Education, co-star Ahn Hee Yeon in "Young Adult Matters, Lim Sung Mi "Fighter," and Choi Jung Woon for the film "Moving On."

During her interview with Dazed Korea, she admitted that calling her name and going up on stage to receive the rookie of the year award felt "strange" to her.

She confessed that she has never held a trophy and says that it was "a very unfamiliar feeling."

"It seemed to be recognized for the efforts I had put into acting. I was really happy," she said.

With almost ten years since her debut as an actress, this is the first time she managed to bag an award, and from the looks of it, she might take home another trophy in the coming ceremonies.

Lee Yoo Mi is among the nominees for Best New Actress at the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards alongside Gong Seung Yeon, Roh Jeong Eui, Bang Min Ah and Jung Soo Jung.

As for her future in showbiz, the rising star shared that she wanted to be remembered as a serious actress playing various roles with different genres.

"I want to be an actor who looks for it out of curiosity whether it comes out in this movie or that drama, and I want to be an actor who raises questions about what to do this time, what kind of character it is," she says.

After her appearance in "Squid Game," Lee Yoo Mi is set to star in the upcoming horror Kdrama "All of Us are Dead" alongside Yoon Chan Young, Park Ji Hoo, and "Hospital Playlist" actress Cho Yi Hyun.
