Song Joong Ki is closing a year with a heavy heart after reports noted that his beloved grandmother passed away.
Media outlets cited that the "Vincenzo" star is quietly mourning the death of a family member who reportedly died on November 28.

Although the cause of death has not been revealed, the funeral was held in the morning on November 30, attended by the actor and his family.
In addition, Song Joong Ki and the rest of the family kept the funeral discreetly and attended only by limited people due to the threat of new coronavirus infection.
On the other hand, the actor's agency, History D&C, also confirmed the heartbreaking news to the public.
Meanwhile, fans expressed their condolences virtually as they extended their deepest sympathy for the bereaved family.

The devastating news comes ahead of his upcoming series "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate" with "Hospital Playlist" actress Shin Hyun Bin as his new leading lady.
The much-awaited JTBC show is Song Joong Ki's comeback in Kdrama after his triumphant and not to mention top-rating series "Vincenzo" with Jeon Yeo Been.
For his return to the small screen, he is set to play the character of Jin Do Joon, who will be reborn as Yoon Hyun Woo to have his bitter-sweet revenge against the wealthy family.
It came after Do Joon, who served the chaebol family for over a decade, was framed for embezzlement and eventually got killed.
He will return with a new persona under the name of Yoon Hyun Woo, the family's youngest son.
Based on the web novel of the same name written by San Kyeong, Song Joong Ki's new drama is helmed by "She Was Pretty," W," and "I Am Not A Robot" PD Jeong Dae Yun alongside veteran screenwriter Kim Tae Hee, who also penned the Hallyu star's breakout Kdrama "Sungkyunkwan Scandal."
Apart from the award-winning actor and Shin Hyun Bin, "The Youngest Son of a Conglomerate" cast also includes a lineup of talented actors such as Lee Sung Min, Kim Nam Hee, Kang Gi Doong, "Jirisan" actor Jo Han Chul, and Girls' Generation's Tiffany. She will be Song Joong Ki's younger sister.

Song Joong Ki Bags Popular Star Award at the 42nd Blue Dragon Film Awards
The Hallyu star once again proved his dominance as South Korea's brightest actor after taking home the Popularity Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards 2021.
Song Joong Ki shared the award alongside his co-star Jeon Yeo Been, "D.P" star Goo Kyo Hwan and Girls' Generation's YoonA.
