Lee Byung Hun Embroiled In Money Controversy Anew— Agency Speaks Out

Lee Byung Hun is in hot water after tax evasion allegations were made against the actor ahead of his silver screen return, arousing talk among fans and the media.

The actor's company, BH Entertainment, released an official statement regarding the matter. Here's what they said.

Lee Byung Hun Embroiled In Tax Evasion Issue

BH Entertainment cleared the air regarding its artist Lee Byung Hun's recent controversy!

With his popularity and legacy, Lee Byung Hun is a self-made star who appeared in various high scale dramas such as "Our Blues," "Emergency Declaration" and "Squid Game."

Having said that, the actor isn't new to issues and controversies. In September 2022, Lee Byung Hun was reported that the National Tax Service conducted a special tax audit on his agency BH Entertainment.

They were fined hundreds of thousands of dollars in additional taxes. In addition to that, his estate tax was also incriminating him.

Lee Byung Hun was said to have earned approximately 8 million USD after he purchased a 10-story building in Seoul, and sold it in 2021.

With the amount of money he allegedly owns as an actor and a businessman, Lee Byung Hun is the subject of criticisms.

However, BH Entertainment cleared the air that Lee Byung Hun hasn't had any incidents about money and taxes in the past 30 years.

A representative stated, "The collected fee was due to the differences in time for advertising and bonuses of all employees."

Moreover, the representative of the company revealed that Lee Byung Hun has paid his employees with his own expenses, which were processed as company expenses.

Through the released statement, BH Entertainment asks the public to refrain from using Lee Byung Hun's name in shame, and only to trust the actor and his credibility.

On the other hand, Lee Byung Hun has made more than 200,000 USD of donations to victims of the wild fire, flood and COVID-19 in South Korea last year.

Lee Byung Hun's Upcoming Works

In 2022, Lee Byung Hun dominated the acting scene with his top notch works such as "Our Blues" and "Emergency Declaration."

The two works received international success from fans around the world. In particular, Lee Byung Hun's film became the highest grossing film in South Korea in 2022.

Currently, Lee Byung Hun is preparing for his forthcoming disaster film "Concrete Utopia" with Park Seo Joon and Park Bo Young, which follows the aftermath of the earthquake in Seoul.

"Concrete Utopia" is still in its production process, but it is expected to be released within this year in theaters nationwide.

Even more so, Lee Byung Hun is also set to headline upcoming projects "The Match" and "I Believe In A Thing Called Love."
