The smash hit series "Doctor Cha" closed its curtains last week after eight lovely weeks, leaving a bittersweet feeling.

Despite being one of the best works this 2023, lead actor Kim Byung Chul has a lot of woes and regrets about the drama. Here's what he said.

Kim Byung Chul On 'Doctor Cha' Performance

JTBC's "Doctor Cha" wrapped up after decorating prime time with its engrossing premise for eight consecutive weeks.

Fans expressed their regrets about the ending as "Doctor Cha" had been their comfort series during the weekend. The series ended with great reviews and a significantly high score.

Following its conclusion, Kim Byung Chul spilled his honest feelings about the show. In the series, he played the role of Seo In Ho, Uhm Jung Hwa's Cha Jung Suk's cheating husband.

Despite his nasty affair, he was deeply loved by the public for his "meme worthy" reactions and great comedic timing. The actor was also shocked after his character was well-received by the public.

According to Kim Byung Chul, he even gets stressed whenever he sees his character on screen, expressing his disappointment with Seo In Ho's life choices.

He thanks the viewers who tuned in from the beginning until the end, making "Doctor Cha" a hit.

Even though "Doctor Cha" soared to the top, the series had its fair share of controversies during its run.

One of them was about the Crohn's disease misinformation, which is the biggest controversy the drama experienced.

Kim Byung Chul somehow blames himself for what happened, saying, "I felt responsible as a member of the show. I sincerely apologize to everyone we have offended."

The "Doctor Cha" star stated that they should have been more careful especially with its themes involving medicine and health.

Thankfully, the issue was resolved even before "Doctor Cha" entered its second half. Moreover, the series remains as the fourth highest work in JTBC history, besting "Itaewon Class."

Kim Byung Chul Reacts To 'Doctor Cha' Conclusion

Among the characters in the series, Kim Byung Chul picks his own role as his most favorite person in "Doctor Cha."

He was able to challenge himself through the character, allowing him to take on the romance and comedy genres simultaneously with ease.

In addition, his character's development was also well-written, impressing the actor. Regarding the ending, Kim Byung Chul regrets that Cha Jung Suk didn't choose his character in the end.

"It's a shame but I understand," he said. "He has caused Cha Jung Suk great pain for 20 years and even though he was cute in the end, he shall perish."

As for his ideal type, Kim Byung Chul chooses Cha Jung Suk's personality over Choi Seung Hee's as his ideal type, saying that he prefers vivacious people who make him comfortable.
