‘Squid Game’ Star Oh Young Soo to Face First Trial Due to Sexual Assault
After wowing the viewers with his amazing portrayal of player number 1 in "Squid Game" and bagging a historical win at the Golden Globes, Oh Young Soo is facing charges of sexual assault.
The veteran actor, who often plays monk in various South Korean dramas and movies, amazed global viewers with his portrayal of Oh Il Nam in the blockbuster hit K-drama along with Lee Jung Jae, Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, and more.
However, after his claim to fame, Oh Young Soo is scheduled to stand trial on charges of indecent assault.
Oh Young Soo of 'Squid Game' to Face Trial for the First Time
In a report cited by a local outlet Star News, the award-winning actor will face a trial scheduled on February 3 at Suwon District Court at the Seongnam branch.
Per the South Korean court, the incident comes after Oh Young Soo was accused by a woman of inappropriately touching her in 2017.
The woman, who was referred to as Miss A, initially files a complaint but was dismissed in 2021, after the award winning actor denied the allegation, saying it was a "one-sided claim."
However, due to the evidence supporting her complaint, the prosecution re-investigated the case with the court indicting Oh Young Soo without detention.
Due to the case, he will face trial for the first time in five years since the incident occurred in 2017.

As for others, director Hwang Dong Hyuk is yet to name stars who will be part of "Squid Game" season 2, including Oh Young Soo.
